What our Clients Say…
“I first met Melanie when I was at a crossroads in relation to taking my newly formulated business ideas to the next level.
Melanie embraced my concepts with enthusiastic support and vigour, which is just what I and my business needed at the time.
Since that first meeting Melanie has been my mentor and a source of invaluable advice and support, I had my resoundingly successful Book and Business Launch, and I can honestly say that it would not have happened without the help of Melanie and her team at Contact First.”

Melanie Lavelle-Maloney was very helpful in advising the things I needed to ensure were done to start the business running. She suggested ways to market myself which has already proved successful. She also suggested I attend some workshops, which is a great idea only I am finding it difficult to work around with my 3yr old and my husbands job, and when the business picks up, I may find it difficult to attend them altogether, but I will make every effort to attend at least a few. She has also made a follow up visit to check on my progress and reminded me of a few things that still need attention. Melanie has been so helpful with all the information and ideas she has provided for me and would definitely recommend this program for anyone thinking of starting up a business as there were lots of things I wasn’t aware of but now know.

Business Branding Strategies
You know that your product or service is unique, but how can you communicate this to potential clients? Small business branding can help differentiate your business from your competition.
Know Your Client: The idea of branding is to create an image that reflects your business, even if you are the only person who works in your company. In order to develop your image, consider your customer base. Knowing your clients’ and potential clients’ demographics can help you develop a theme that will appeal to the right people. For example, on a simple level, if your target market is surfers, you would want your brand to reflect surfing rather than skydiving.
Know Your Product: In addition to considering your target market demographics, think about how your product or service is special. Also consider what makes your widget a better widget than others.
Stand Out: Branding can consist of your business name, your product’s name, a slogan and a logo. The colors that you use should be eye-catching and help your brand to stand out from the crowd.
Be Consistent: Use your logos and slogans consistently, from your business cards to your stationery to your Web site. Consistency is key for customer recognition over time. In addition, consistency will give your business a professional appearance.
Take Advantage of the Web: Once you know your clients, your product and your logos, consider sending out an e-mail newsletter or writing a blog on your Web site. Content should be relevant to your product or service and your industry, but should not be used to sell your gizmo directly. Your writing should sound personal, but with the purpose of having the public perceive you as an expert in your field.
Maintain the Brand in Public: However, branding strategies do not just include visuals. Effective product branding includes how you, along with anyone else in your company, deal with the public. Your voice on the phone and your appearance in person says a lot about your business. If you leave a positive impression with your public, your business will be perceived positively. This positive image will build up over time.
Branding, even for big companies, is not an overnight process. However, branding can offer you the opportunity to compete with the “big guys” by creating an image of your company and product that makes you stand out from everyone else.
